Ordinary People Produce Extraordinary Result

Summary

This article is about Rosa Park, a woman who refuses to get up and give her seat in white section to white people. A few years ago, the author had a chance to go to a show, and Rosa would be interviewed in the same show. However, Rosa had spent a lot of time on many activities of the human right for a long time. Everybody was shocked by the action that Rosa refused to give up the seat. When her story was retold again and again, it would become a fable. People would think it is hard to do good things like that. The public made her become a hero and made us away from her. The media also rarely represent historical change which is made by the ordinary people. We also dismiss normal people’s actions, knowledge and insufficiently. Finally, we find it hard to imagine normal people with a extraordinary action. A young African American activist also it does us all a disservice. Our misreading of the Rosa Park’s story make us forgets many things. For example, most of us forget the grass-movements in which ordinary people fought for freedom, democracy and a more just society. Many normal people’s stories are erased just like the real story of Rosa. From Park’s actual story, we know that an empowering moral is lost in her public myth. She continued to fight for human right and never give up. If we want to change the society, we have to take action. We are a part of our society, and we will trigger a miracle for only when we act, and we all have the chance to shape a story.

Response

I think it is an interesting story that points out the problem of the society. The modern society is a big and complex machine, and everybody is just a little gear. Most of us are doing the same job without any creativity day by day. This situation makes people do not believe themselves. We have to know that we are not just parts of the world. We are human beings, and we have ability to express our ideas and thoughts. Nowadays, we have the most powerful tool of communication: the Internet. We can express our feelings and ideas to share to the world. It is easily to find supporter if the idea was good enough.

Sometimes we would think that only great men can change the world. It is not true. If you want to change the world, just do “Good” thing, no matter whether it is small or big. Do a good turn daily and you can change not only your life but also other people’s lives. Constant dropping wears out the stone. Many good deeds would become a mighty torrent to make our society better. Do not look down on yourself, try to do some thing right now and you will realize how powerful you are.

  1. The Internet really gives ordinary people chances to be extraordinary people. We can share what we feel or what happens in our everyday lives through blogs, YouTube, Flicker and so on. The ordinary one will not be ordinary by logging in and posting. In my opinion, the extraordinary people are seemingly extraordinary; in some respects, they do something that is really different from we ordinary people, but most of their time they do the same things as we ordinary people do.
I also agree with your opinion that if we want to change the world, we can do the good things no matter they are big or small. Although there may be little help to the world when we do the small things, we should not give up and always faith in ourselves. Only by doing so can we ordinary people become the humble but extraordinary people.

  2. It can be an easy or a complex problem in our society. Through the society grown up, many things had been changed. We can do anything but nothing about our society. Human beings made progress to this world, and everything changed to be more and more complex. Simultaneously, human beings found that the world was become too complicated, and then they seek for the simple and nature thing.
Everyone wants to know the truth, but is that everyone can afford the truth? It is a good question to ask our self. Although many people tend to understand the fact, the situation is much time people are willing to believe the lie than the truth. It seems the truth is difficult to belief. It is the same with people do some good for helping the others, but they care about the other’s mind than the deeds they do. Actually, people gave themselves too much excuse. It’s like the check, which restrained our behavior to push us, do the good deeds.
However, I think people willing to do good deeds, whatever it can make big effects or only can help the other around them. It is a good start to change the thoughts in our mind. It only depend on what you really care about.
